Testimonial:
"Alderleaf's instructors are a wonderful resource. We're so
fortunate to have them. I was able to create the tools for
making fire, purifying water, even making a survival shelter. I came
here thinking I would see experts demonstrate advanced skills in wild
crafting. I never thought I personally would experience the kind of
success I did; making fire for the first time is awe inspiring. Thank
you!"

Georgie Lilgreen has taught youth and adult courses at Alderleaf for over a decade. She also teaches at Bastyr University. Georgie is certified in permaculture design and holds a Level II Track & Sign Certificate through CyberTracker Conservation. Georgie’s passion is in ethnobotany, survival skills, and teaching others how to be good stewards of the land. She is a Tlingit Indian, born in Ketchikan, Alaska, and belongs to the Saxman Tribe. She was raised in the Haida village of Kasaan on Prince of Wales Island. There were no stores, hospitals, roads, or even electricity. Living off the land was the way of life. She was taught how to use what was available to her and watched her elders use plants for food and medicine. Georgie still prefers to live off the land as much as possible today. She is a graduate of both the Alderleaf Wilderness Certification Program and the Wilderness Instructor Apprenticeship, and loves the outdoors.
Jeremy Cobb has been teaching youth and adult classes at Alderleaf for over a decade. He also runs Quiet Heart Wilderness School in Edmonds. Jeremy grew up playing, hunting, and fishing in the woods around his parents’ farm in Northeast Ohio. He continued his passion for wilderness skills throughout his travels as a professional chef in Kentucky, Arizona, and California. After almost twenty years as a chef, Jeremy moved to Washington to study at Alderleaf Wilderness College. During that time, he received certifications in Wilderness Education and Ecology, Instructor Apprenticeship, Permaculture Design, the McConnell Trailing Apprenticeship, and Flaked Stone Tool Technologies at A.I.N.W. He is currently knapping, practicing skills, teaching, and received a BS in Anthropology with a minor in American Indian Studies and a Forensics Certificate from Central Washington University in 2023.
